Volunteer
Change the World - start here!
Newtown Neighbourhood Centre runs diverse programs and services aimed at creating a just and inclusive community. These could not exist without volunteers dedicating valuable time and expertise.
Our volunteers make a real difference to the community and we aim to make a difference to our volunteers. We provide an inclusive and supportive environment where people can gain skills, meet new people and contribute. |
Upcoming Volunteer positions taking expressions of interest:
Individual Social Support Volunteer
ISS is a regular commitment to meet individually with an older person seeking social connection.
The Overview
|
Case StudyJune* has lived a rich and full life travelling across the world as a performer. Now 90, she lives in Enmore alone since her partner passed some years ago. When applying for the program, June hoped: "I won't have to go a month or so without seeing a soul."
June was matched with Cam*, who has been visiting every fortnight since 2022. Cam brings coffee and they enjoy biscotti together, playing old records and going through June's many fabulous photos. |
Drop-In Hub Volunteer
The Drop-in Hub involves working in our fast-paced community information and resource service, assisting people from all walks of life.
