BOARDING HOUSES
Resources for sustainable tenancies
When tenants or residents are experiencing pressures that may endanger their living situation, external help is available. The Boarding Houses Outreach Service has developed a range of resources that list the types of services that are available to help ease, or cope with these pressures. They have been created in the hope that owners and operators, landlords and real estate agents can have the means to offer support to their resident and tenants. These resources are applicable to people experiencing all types of stress - financial, home, emotional, and more.
Tenants are defined as people holding Residential Tenancy Agreements. Residents, or occupants, are defined as people who may have signed either Occupancy Agreements or Residential Tenancy Agreements, but who are living in boarding houses.
During COVID, we are aware that tenants will also be experiencing increased pressures, and have thus included resources for if you are a tenant experiencing difficulties. Residents and tenants do have different rights and sometimes different avenues of recourse for problems in living situations. As such, we have distinct resources for residents and tenants, to better suit each person's circumstances.
