Sleep out in your car and help women put homelessness in their past
What is Car Boot Sleepout?
Joined us on 27 June 2023 as we celebrate hosting our first Car Boot Sleepout on the rooftop of the Marrickville Metro shopping centre. The Car Boot Sleepout will be an experience like no other. We’re asking our community to come together and sleep out in your car to stand in solidarity with women, aged 55 and over who night after night who sleep in their cars. Suffering financial hardship driven by rising costs, lack of employment, limited superannuation and a lack of affordable housing, women over 55 are the fastest growing homeless population in the Inner West. We can change this! |

Help to put homelessness in their past. The number of women aged 55 and over at risk of homeless in Australia is estimated to be 240,000. Suffering financial hardship driven by rising costs, lack of employment, limited superannuation and a lack of affordable housing, women over 55 are the fastest growing homeless population in Australia.
55 -74 year old women who seek support from homelessness services has increased by 55% in the last decade. Known as the hidden homeless, these women are doing it tough by living in a car, couch surfing, living under the threat of violence and/or physically hiding. By taking part in the Car Boot Sleep Out Challenge, you’re helping more women over 55 receive the necessary support, putting homelessness in their past. |
