Jess Miller
BOARD OF MANAGEMENT
Like a Flying Tong, Jess flew into Sydney from Melbourne (via Canberra & Sao Paolo) 15 years ago and never left. This was due partly to the jasmine-scented streets but mostly because of the irrepressible Sydney vibe and great weather. Like all good Melbournites, she gravitated to Newtown and has been oscillating wildly around Inner West ever since.
Jess spends her time working as hard as a Stinking Bishop to green urban streets and places as part of the team at behaviour change agency, Republic of Everyone. She is a Councillor and Deputy Chair of the Environment Committee at the City of Sydney and is as Lentil as Anything about making urban places as fair as possible for all people. As well as being a part of the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, she is also on the TEDxSydney Board and was curated the food program for a few years. Local food system-obsessed, Jess has had tremendous fun working with some of Newtown’s finest purveyors of food, drinks and produce. Jess is a huge believer in the ‘vibe’ and enthusiastic champion of Newtown and the NCC being an exemplar of how neighbourhoods can work together to do ‘life’ fairly, sustainably, locally and with a healthy and unique dose of ‘weird'. |
