Connie Henson
BOARD OF MANAGEMENT
In 2010, when Connie moved back to Australia after a volunteer project overseas, she moved to Newtown and fell in love with the neighbourhood.
Connie’s natural curiosity and desire to practically apply what she learns, in combination with her strong belief in human rights, a just society and a strong sense of inclusiveness, means she always has ‘one foot’ in the community. When the opportunity to join Newtown Neighbourhood Centre's Board arose, she jumped at the chance to be involved and use her skills to contribute to her local community. Connie is a psychologist and public health researcher keen on translating science into language and tools that are easily accessible to non-scientists. In collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colleagues, Connie’s research explores the enablers for Indigenous participation and leadership in digital health including how older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women use technology to improve health in their communities. She holds a PhD in Psychology, MIPH in international public health and MS Rehabilitation Counselling. |
