Celebrating the vibrant and diverse community in South Marrickville
Marrickville South Collective (MSC) is a partnership group made up of several community organisations, including Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, who work alongside Inner West Council to support the local residents and community members in the South Marrickville area.
MSC was established in 2017 to celebrate the vibrant, multicultural and diverse community in South Marrickville by offering opportunities for the community to gather and collaborate.
The group hosts monthly BBQs held on the last Thursday of every month (in school term), which allows locals to come together, play, connect and share stories, in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Residents from the local aged care facility often attend to share in the fun.
Complimentary sausage sizzle (halal) and other tasty treats are on offer for all to enjoy. Inner West Council also provides a select number of free food boxes from the Addison Road Food Pantry.
Kids’ play areas are set up, which include craft and book stations, toys for younger children, and sports equipment for older kids.
Community workers are also able to provide information on various topics including housing, financial support, mental health, early childhood development, after school activities and more.
Participating organisations include: Addison Road Food Pantry, Barnardos, Community and Cultural Connections Inc, Centrelink, Connect Marrickville, Inner West Council, Marrickville Youth Resource Centre, Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, St George Community Housing.
