Newtown Neighbourhood Centre runs diverse programs and services aimed at creating a just and inclusive community. These could not exist without volunteers dedicating valuable time and expertise.
Our volunteers make a real difference to the community and we aim to make a difference to our volunteers. We provide an inclusive and supportive environment where people can gain skills, meet new people and contribute.
Volunteers work in a broad range of positions across the organisation. We are currently looking for the following volunteer roles:
Social support volunteers provide friendship, empathy and encouragement to socially isolated people through regular home visits. Duties and responsibilities vary depending on the client’s needs, mobility and interests and how the relationship develops between the client and volunteer. The basic responsibility is to commit to regular home visits 1-2 hours per week or fortnight at a time and day suitable for both the client and volunteer. Newtown Festival is a Newtown Neighbourhood Centre (NNC) fundraiser and community event. Volunteers help to maximise this fundraising effort and are vital in ensuring the festival’s success.
So whether you are an event junkie, music lover, neighbourly Newtonian, fundraising fanatic or social butterfly we need you. Volunteers are involved in every part of the festival from event logistics and production to fundraising and promotion. Find out more and apply here.
Pro Bono/Skilled Volunteers
A number of our volunteer roles have been created through volunteers who have specialised skills in an area coming forward and offering their expertise on a voluntary basis. Some example of this is our English Teacher, IT Consultant, Art therapist, Counsellors and Photographer. We would love to hear if you have relevant specialist skills/expertise or would like to offer your professional service pro bono. Please contact email@example.com
