Sportsability began in 2008 - inspired by Street Soccer we developed a program specific to our target residents when it was recognised that a movement, exercise and sports program was wanted and needed - it was devised as an indoor soccer game as well as an indoor lawn bowls game. The idea of motivation through exercise and movement grew into a friendly competitive game that grew to include other local organisations such as New Horizons and Aftercare. Sportsability creates an inclusive space for all types of abilities to learn and develop as players and as a team. Participants have been able to play on a competitive level against Mission Australia, Marrickville Council, Police Citizens Youth Club and staff from Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.
The indoor soccer welcomes participants of any level as the session starts with drills which teach the basic elements of the game- and ends with a friendly game of soccer.
