Stall Category Definitions
Below is a clear outline of stall categories and what will and won’t fit a category. Please note, on the day of the festival an audit is run on all stalls. If you apply under one category and are trading on another higher priced category on the day you will be charged the difference on the spot, plus an additional administrative fee. So please make the process a nice and simple one for us all and be clear in advance of your requirements. The categories below will assist you. Please refer queries to the Stallholder Coordinator if you are unclear.
- Food and Beverage (non-alcohol): any sales of food, drinks such as juices, ice blocks and so forth, must apply under this category. Please note: all beverage sales will be reviewed on application to ensure there is no conflict of interest with sponsors. Any food products that are pre-packaged such as nuts, nougat or chocolates can apply under General Merchandise. All Food and Beverage Stalls will need to download the Marrickvile Council Temporary Food Application Form and send it to:

General Merchandise: any imported or commercial products. Products that are made, packaged and sold commercially. This would also include pre-packaged food products such as nuts, nougat or chocolate.
Eco: the seller of 100% organic and/or environmentally-friendly products and services. All applicants in this category will be reviewed and confirmed.
Fair Trade: Fair Trade applicants must be registered with the Fair Trade Association. If you don’t have a Fair Trade certificate you will need to apply as General Merchandise.
Handmade Art and Craft: to fit this category you must have prior approval. All your stock - art, craft, clothing – must be made by yourself. If for example you have products made by hand by people in a village in Nepal, you would have to apply for General Merchandise. This category only exists to support authentic artisans and creative people who don’t do this for a full living. All applicants who apply for Hand Made Art and Craft must bring their product to the Newtown Festival Stallholder Coordinator in advance to view the products before final application approval will be given.
Community: not-for-profit community/volunteer-run organisations only. This category is only for community groups that are only information based. Sales of small things such as basic promotional material (T-shirts, books, stickers) may be allowed however you will need to apply for approval from the NNC in advance. If you intend to use the stall primarily for sales, you will need to apply as General Merchandise.
Promotional: large corporations wishing to promote their company, product or brand will have to apply for a promotional stall. Price is on application.
