What a great day the Newtown Festival was – huge crowds, very relaxed and chilled atmosphere, wonderful community vocal local area and an awesome program of arts, entertainment, workshops and literary works.
An approximate 75,000 people across the day headed to Camperdown Memorial Rest Park to take part in the 2011 Newtown Festival – a true community event. And the weather was perfect, with not a sprinkle of rain as was predicted!

The 2011 Newtown Festival served up an offering of:

- Eco area
- MC Cyclery Games Arena
- Interactive workshops
- Street Theatre and Art Spaces
- Newtown Festival Dog Show
- 280 market stalls
- Food stalls offering a taste of the globe
- Licensed bars
The Festival is an important event in the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre’s calendar with ALL monies raised by the Festival returned to the Centre to provide community support services to the local community. Newtown Neighbourhood Centre supports people through community action and provision of services to address their need, focusing on the disadvantaged and vulnerable members in the community. The centre provides services to the aged, people with disabilities, people with mental illness, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people on low incomes.
These services include providing information and advice on community and public services, emergency accommodation, aged services, council services, children's services, and a variety of other support services. Newtown Neighbourhood Centre also provides a community space supporting different social and political groups and activities.
