The
3-year Multicultural Carers Support Service funded by NSW Health under
the NSW Carers Program ceased operating in September 2007.
We
have tried to lobby for this very worthwhile service to continue, however
we were unsuccessful in securing continued funding.
The
project had touched the lives of 228 carers from the Culturally and Linguistically
Diverse (CALD) communities including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander community via the community forums and 204 attended various other
functions over the 3-year period.
The
Project at Newtown Neighbourhood Centre received input, support, resources
and advice from a number of individuals and organizations such as members
of the Project Steering Committee, project officers, partner organizations,
presenters and stall holders. We would like to acknowledge and thank each
one of them for their contribution to the hard work and success of this
project.
A
special acknowledgement and thank you has to go to the carers that allowed
us into their lives and we hope that over the 3-year period we made some
difference in their caring lives.
